World Blood Donor Day is on the 14th June 2007.

Hopefully today I am going to do something I have been meaning to do for years. I'm going to donate a pint of my blood. Maria has regularly given blood and like many of you I'm sure I kept promising myself I'd do it. Why not take an hour out of your day and donate a pint, some-one you know might need it.

Many countries remain dependent on donation by the families or friends of patients who require blood and, in some countries, blood donors still receive payment.Yet evidence from around the world demonstrates that voluntary unpaid donors are the foundation of a safe blood supply because they are least likely to transmit potentially life-threatening infections, such as HIV and hepatitis viruses, to the recipients of their blood. It is to these unsung heroes that World Blood Donor Day is dedicated.

Latest News from the Seeing Hands Nepal Charity

May 2007 - Our First Volunteer Trainer!

As we continue our support and help raise money for the Charity Seeing Hands Nepal, we will bring you news and updates. Rob & Sue Ainley who are located in Pokhara, Nepal and run the charity haven written:

"Sincere thanks to Joanne Chatfield (an experienced Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist) who arrived in March to help train our students. She has worked really hard and done a fantastic job, teaching an intensive practical course designed to improve their postures and techniques so they can work more effectively. They have all made excellent progress, scoring high marks in both theory and practical tests. Each of them has also done at least 8 massages upon volunteer customers, who have all given good feedback and donated generously to the project in return.

There is still a lot of room for developing the students’ understanding and communication skills but we are very pleased about the difference that it is already clear that short term volunteers can make. We now hope to finish training these students in Autumn, when we plan to recruit more students and volunteers".

At Ruth White Yoga Products, we are pleased to announce that through fundraising, donations and on-line sales we have managed to raise over £700.00 for the Seeing Hands Nepal charity to date. We will be continuing to raise money through the sale of our Premier Standard Yoga Mat and other charity events throughout the year. Thank you for your support.

28th June - 2nd July 2007: Eden Hall, Edenbridge, Kent.
