It could be the perfect excuse to indulge in an extra drop of your favourite tipple.

This silk pillow is said to prevent whoever sleeps on it from having a sore head the morning after the night before.

Yes, the maker actually claims it will prevent hangovers. Don't laugh - after all, it is stuffed with plant extracts such as juniper, fennel, mustard and peppermint - just the thing to counter the effects of a long night on the lash.

Okay, maybe do laugh.

Its maker, London-based Wild Earth, claims aromas are released throughout the night to clear the sleeper's head of impurity.

It is described as a traditional healing process which also cures drowsiness, lack of energy, stress and tension.

The pillow might even ease the conscience because it is a fair trade product, with profits going directly to impoverished Nepalese communities which harvest the plants.

The healing process involves a mix of medicinal and aromatic plants which has been used in the Himalayas for thousands of years.

'These aromatic pillow contains herbs used by traditional healers to help ease the effects of a hangover,' said a Wild Earth spokesman.

'It is designed to beat headaches, purify polluted minds, promote mental alertness and concentration, treat nausea, restore strength and courage and ward off evil spirits.'

All that for £7.50 - and, if it doesn't work, there is always hair of the dog.
